Dr. Christy Ruane D.C.was raised in Venice, Florida among a very active family. With her father as a surgeon, his passion for his career fueled her passion to follow in her father’s footsteps and pursue a career in the medical field. Growing up she was into various sports and loved learning how to perform different physical challenges. At Stetson University, Dr. Christy was able to gain a scholarship as a student-athlete joining the Stetson’s Women’s Rowing Team. Her athletic pursuit to be great in the sport of rowing introduced her to the world of chiropractic. Pushing herself to physical limits, regular sports chiropractic treatment was a necessity. Chiropractic care allowed her to recover properly and avoid serious injury in order to accomplish competitive goals. As a result, she was able to race at a high level, reaching podium ranks at national level regattas. After earning her undergraduate degree, she embarked on the next chapter of her education at Palmer College of Chiropractic, in Port Orange, Florida. She became an active member of the Palmer’s Sport’s Council serving as its Student-Member Coordinator. At this time, she also began to train and compete in CrossFit, which ultimately led to training and competing in Powerlifting and Olympic Weightlifting. After obtaining her Doctorate in Chiropractic, Dr. Christy tied together her passions for barbell sports and chiropractic by opening a USAPL Powerlifting and USAW Olympic Weightlifting affiliated training facility in Clermont with her wife, Bree. Outside of Comprehensive Health Orlando, you can find Dr. Christy there – training, coaching and treating the next generation of strong and resilient barbell athletes.
Comprehensive Health Orlando became the cornerstone of where Dr. Christy’s passion meets practice. In the clinic, she is able to utilize all her experience to this point and organize it into each patient’s treatment plan, catering to each patient’s individual goals and needs in an integrated team setting. Each patient is seen through the lens of being an athlete with the goal of getting you “back on the field”. You can expect a muscle-centric chiropractic approach to care, establishing strength and mobility while also empowering patients with the tools to continue feeling well outside of the clinic.
